Overview

This module focuses on strategies for supporting student engagement in the classroom including creating a positive environment, adjusting task difficulty, and using attention signals, activity sequencing, opportunities to respond, student choice, relevant instruction, and feedback.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the multiple comonents of student engagement, including the role of teacher behavior.
  • Identify and explain at least 3 strategies for gaining and keeping student attention.
  • Describe how to incorporate multiple opportunities to respond in classroom instruction.
  • Identify and explain at least 3 strategies for keeping students engaged in instruction.
